What does the USGS parameter 00000 mean?

The parameter code 00000 identifies records where no measurement was taken, but the site was visited. Many of these types of records are associated with a visit to a groundwater site. Often a measurement cannot be taken if the well is dry, but the information on the status of well is important and does indicate a condition of the water level. For a case where the well is dry, the information indicates a minimum depth to water that corresponds to the depth the well bore. There are a number of conditions where a measurement can not be taken but the status provides other important information. Since no measurement is taken, the value in the record can not be assigned a parameter code. The code 00000 was assigned for such records in the groundwater levels web service.
